Joong Gun
Meaning:Is named after the patriot An Joong Gun who assassinated
Hiro Bumi Ito, the first Japanese governor general of Korea, known as the man
who played the leading part of the Korea-Japan merger.
There are 32 movements in the patter to represent Mr Ans age when he
was executed at Lui-Shung prison in 1910. Pattern Pointers:
Deliver from chest line, thumb positioned inside palm. Finish block inside shoulder line
Target on same line of blocking arm
Keep shoulders square on when striking
At the moment of impact arms at 45° angles, elblows slightly bent. Delivery is from chest line (palms facing upwards). Rotate fists only on the last quarter of the movement.

all cases the attacker lines up and attacks from the ready stance.
The attack is a middle section obverse punch in all cases and is
repeated on each side. As
the attack sequence is identical throughout 1 step sparring, only the defense
movements are documented. The Attacker is positioned at A facing the Defender at B. Number 7 Simultaneous Knifehand Block / Strike1.
Counter attack by moving the right foot towards A assuming a sitting
stance whilst executing a middle outward block with the knife hand and a high
inward strike with the knifehand to the temple of side of neck simulataneously. Number 8 Front Snap Kick / Double Punch1.
Step back with right foot forming right L stance whilst executing a
middle outward block with the outer forearm of the left arm to the attackers
inner forearm 2.
Counter attack with a low front snap lick to lower abdomen landing in
walking stance, then execute high obverse punch and high reverse punch to the
point of the jaw in fast motion. Two Step Sparring (Ibo Matsoki)Number 3 Front Snap Kick / Twin PunchAttacker:
Move the right foot to A forming a right L stance whist executing a forearm
guarding block. Defender:
Move the left foot to form a parallel reading stance. A:
Move the right foot to B executing a low front snap kick to the lower
abdomen. D:
Move the right foot to B forming a left walking stance while executing
a pressing block with X. A:
Move the left foot to B forming a left walking stance while executing a
high twin vertical punch. D:
Move the left foot to B forming a left L stance while executing a high
wedging block and counter attack by slipping towards A into a right walking
stance grabbing the head with both palms, pulling downwards while executing an
upward kick with the left knee. Number 4 Fingertip thrust / Side KickAttacker:
Move the right foot to A forming a right L stance whist executing a forearm
guarding block. Defender:
Move the left foot to form a parallel reading stance. A:
Move the right foot to B forming a right walking stance while executing
a high thrust with the right fingertips. D:
Move the right foot to B forming a left walking stance while executing
a high block with the left knifehand. A:
Move the left foot to B executing a middle side piercing kick. D:
Move the left foot to B forming a left L stance while executing a
middle inward block with the outer forearm and counter attack with a left low
front snap kick towards A to the base of the spine and execute a twin upset
punch upon landing into as left walking stance. |
