COOLER RUNNING AND BETTER SHIFTIN.......
Q. My V-Max runs very hot in the summer months around
town and also shifts kind of clunky.
Is there any thing I can do to help it out?
A. We offer a few products to keep your V-Max running up to 25 degrees cooler and
improve shifting.
1. The fan and switch kit. This Aluminum fan has more pitch on the blades which
pulls more air through
the radiator. The kit also includes a small handle bar mount toggle
switch and instructions. This allows
you the option of turning the fan on early before the
temperature rises too high. This really helps
but it is not a cure all.
2. Redline Water Wetter. This is a cooling system treatment that works wonders. This
heat transfer
product actually attracts the coolant to the hot spots of your engine making
it much more efficient.
It also adds more corrosion protection.
3. X-1R. X-1R is a metal conditioning product that you add to your motor oil. It
does not condition the
oil or change the viscosity. X-1R penetrates up to 3 microns of
ferrous metals. This makes the surface
much smoother, drastically cutting friction. X-1R
improves shifting, adds up to 1-3 more horsepower,
extends engine life, and lowers the oil
temp. The best thing is X-1R does not harm wet clutches.
4. Kendall 20W-50 Motor Cycle Oil. This premium quality petroleum motor oil is
designed specifically
to offer maximum lubrication under high heat and high RPM conditions
of your V-Max engine. It offers
smoother shifting and clutch action. Kendall exceeds API SH SG/CC and SJ service ratings.
NOTE! We do not recommend synthetic or synthetic blends
in the V-Max. Many customers have reported
clutch slippage or complete failures with
synthetics.
Q. What do you recommend running in the rear end?
A. I recommend a full synthetic 75-90W hypoid gear oil with 1.5 oz of X-1R added. This
really frees up
the differential plus reduces heat and wear. NOTE! Very soon we will have
a high quality 75-85W
hypoid X-1R gear oil available. This will have the same additive
package as our X-1R motor oil additive,
to reduce heat, friction, and wear.
