BMF Show 18th May 2002
Well once upon a time in a land far far away a jolly old troll, decided he would
visit a place to the far east known at that time as Peters borough.
So rising early from his slumbers, breakfasted and washed (unusual for a
troll, but he was a kindly old soul) and mounting his trusty steed,
affectionately known as Max, he set off on his journey.
On that particular morning the roads be perilously slippy and and the early
morning mists and rain swirled about him, however undaunted he and
Max made good time, arriving at a quaint old hostelry known as the Clock.
Whereupon he immediately came upon a fellow known to him as dude,
now dude was beating his brow and making a thousand and one excuses, including
that old perennial about the back door lock, why he couldn't
join the jolly old troll on his pilgrimage to peters borough.
With a determined set to his woolly chin, the jolly old troll and Max strode
back into the swirling mists, leaving dude forlornly on the car park
contemplating his back passage (sorry door lock). Onwards and upwards was the
cry heard throughout the villages, of Stonebridge, Coleshill
and eventually Maxstoke where the jolly old troll had prearranged a rendezvous
at the olde Griffin Inne an establishment reknown throughout the
land for its on site brewery, hand pulled guest ales, good food and
elderflower wine. But alas something was up, only cousin Bluemax was to be
seen at this location, upon questioning, Bluemax confessed to receiving a
note from smokin Paul B's mom that he was to ill to make the journey to
peters borough (shame) a similar tale was later found to be the case with Martin
S.
However not to be diminished or swayed by the tasks and perilous route that lay
in front of our two merry pilgrims they proceeded along the A5
to the next pre arranged rendezvous. This time they thought they were meeting up
with that giant amongst the men (trolls) of that time vmaxslim,
after a period of foot tapping and tutting (a bad habit, we are told by lady
trolls, with all jolly old trolls at that time) it was decided by our two
heroes that they would have to press on without the protection of that
giant amongst men vmaxslim (who later explained there was a method in his
madness, can't say anymore said to much already).
Now alone and excited by what lay ahead of our two valiant heroes in this tale
they pressed on. The journey proceeded through dazzling heights
and deep valleys, mysterious places such as Lubenham, Market Harborough and the
once famous Steel town known locally as Corby, through Oundle
a place full of young goblins and hobbits eventually arriving at the final
destination. A gathering of like minded journeymen in a field full of tents
in peters brough, our two jolly companions safely secured the trusty
steeds and proceeded to interact and network with their fellow companions
amazed by the previously unseen goods, accessories and genuine bargains to be
had upon that field............................. To be continued

So we met at the Yamaha stand as arranged at 2pm, good to see Scott (necromaxxer,
the man formerly known as....) Sharon & Alan (Rossy1),
Mark & Caroline (vmax slim & cazmax), Geoff (Bluemax) and of course myself,
mayhemick also made a earlier appearence. We chatted and hung
around for 30 minutes, then said our goodbyes. This year at the show the UK Vmax
club tent along with the usual suspects featured some sparkling
examples of Yamaha's finest, (thanks Ian and Roland for saying hello). Alongside
was the exactrep stand, 'H' was there with loads of Vmax goodies
to spend money on, no wonder there were long queues at the cash point,
immediately round the corner was another vmax supplier from the Netherlands,
Henny Raats
, apologies for not getting the brochure, loads of trick bits and a very nice
vmax on display.
Listen, If you are thinking of going Sunday stop thinking and do it.
So back in time to our two gallant heroes,............
We both got back safe and sound, thank you to all those that made the effort to
come and say hello. Maybe next year we can have a vmaxchat marquee.

Finally Well Done to Ray Trapnell who won the sled pull. It appears that he blew his engine up though!!
