Poole 03 – “Dave F’s” boots the truth

Sunday 11th May, that bloody Magpie woke me up again, goodness knows what upset
the damn thing this time, seconds before something really interesting was about to
happen, wish I could remember, must have been good though had to bend over for a pee.

Still time to wash the Max and have some brekkie before I set off for Moreton in
the Marsh. Bluemax Geoff and Smoking Paul B did the Welsh rally on Saturday so
they decided not to come on this trip; they did 520 miles and didn’t get home until
2.30am I have subsequently found out.

Strangely enough for a Vmax meet I left home under darkening skies, before I even
got to the Motorway it was wet, so much for cleaning the Max, short trip down the
M40 to J15 and the sun started to shine again, that road down to Moreton is a real
good one you should try it sometime.

Arrived at Moreton just before 9am first there filled up and got a coffee also cleaned
all the cow sh8t off my exhaust of which there seemed to be a proliferation this morning.
Soon heard the familiar thunder of a Vmax there is nothing quite like it, to the trained ear.
Roger his trusty navigator and official group photographer Tina, Simon, El and
Malc (Woodmanyana good as his word).

Bit of chat and away we went

After a little push of Malcs bike down the car park, we set off for our first part of the
journey, under bright skies although a little chilly round the neck. Roger and Tina really
do have the knack of making the journey interesting ,riding at the back I had the pleasure
of El’s pert bottom wriggling in front of me for the first part of the journey she just
didn’t seem to settle ( so the itching powder worked. lol)

Next stop the little Chef at Beanacre, only to be confronted by a Max with what could
only be described as a huge pair of b*ll*cks hanging over the rear light, yep you’ve
guessed it, Jules (Fenris85) has met us as promised for Breakfast.

A very pleasant break and a chat coffee for me and a varied selections of breakfast
for the rest of them, disaster in the shape of no sausages though, really looking
forward to the next part of the journey, Sorry kept you guys waiting at the filling
station I was just adjusting myself. Damn it, Simon had moved up so I was following
Malc…… Oh well nothing good lasts forever…..

This was the longest of the stints through some (here’s the gooey bit) lovely English
country side past quaint country pubs and traditional roadside Cottages with thatched
roofs, that probably are worth £500K + (gooey bit over). We turn up onto a track
sign posted the Red Shoot in after what seemed like miles over windy track with
common ground either side and even a cattle grid (don’t you just hate them?). We got
to the Red Shoot Inn what a charming place and even better a line of Max’s parked
outside, I immediately recognised the bikes of GTB, Carwyn,  Speedymax and MTT’s
lump of cheese in the dappled sunlight, I parked in front of Cmax, right opposite a
sign saying do not park if its good enough for John its good enough for me..

Good to renew the faces from last year and a couple of new ones including Mark whom I
am sure I have met before and our old friend Moemax who had parked around the corner
for some reason, probably didn’t want to show up everyone one else's engine next to his
really shiny one..

We had a beer and a chat introduced at everyone told outrageous lies about how fast
we were going and generally had a good time. Decided to push on for Poole Quay our
final destination of the day, we were ready so off we went I was following Speedymax’s
250 rear tyre he obviously knew that twisty road, I didn’t and a couple of times had
‘oh Sh*t’ moments hope no one noticed….. Slipped onto a dual carriage way and suddenly
I am going backwards thinking this is strange, run out of fuel hadn’t I pulled over and
switch back onto the main tank, then waited for the second party led by Carwyn, who
apparently had gone the wrong way (what chance you got when a local gets lost)
dramas over we all assembled outside the Oyster bar, sounds like a good title for
a film 10 Max’s and a Triumph doesn’t it.…

Immediately lost GTB he was last seen heading into the that poofy hairdressers bar the
Poole Oyster bar, however upon inspection it was only his weak bladder that caused this
leather clad Adonis of a man to venture into such a place either that or he saw the price
list, so up the road to the Jolly Sailor it was just got settled when Mr Hobby Bobby on
his day on , decided that 10 Max’s and a Triumph wasn’t a good enough title to allow us to
park outside his Oyster bar so we had to move our bikes letting our beer go cold…..

We were soon joined by Dave the boots F, Now! (looks over his shoulder to make sure no
one is listening
) let me let you into a secret about him, like all skinny blokes he’s a short*rse
really the reason he looks long and lithe ladies (now stop that drooling) see he’s looking
worried now because I have sussed out his secret

The Truth is it’s his boots they actually add another foot to his height, its true (on my
mothers Xmas cake
) look at them, goodness knows how he rides with them…

We have just put our glorious leader Roger in this pic. for scale Rogers 6’ 4” (honest).
Can’t say anymore said too much already

And there’s more,

Silver max Steve also joined making 12 Max’s in total good turn out I thought, don’t know
who the old lady in the background was but she was obviously riveted by our conversation
(do you think she was a plant by our arch enemy KTB?)

Cmax John said he even regretted not washing his Max

How fast did you say you were going Geoff? Yes!!!!

And finally for this part of the write up, a nice picture of Carwyn (left) talking to Simon
(speedymax) and a not so nice pic of Mike the trooper filling his gob full of chips….

Because the rain had started to come down slightly we decided to make a move back towards
home saying out farewells to everyone we departed.

Someway outside of Poole I got split from the rest of the party, as they were waiting at the
island Malc managed to stall his Max, we tried to push and to no avail so we thought wait until
it cooled down, Malc wanted us to leave him there, but we don’t do that. In the meantime
we managed to get another pic of our intrepid heroes but this time including our official
photographer Tina sitting on the wall.

Anyway after a bit more pushing shoving and cooling down , Malc informed us he had some
Jump leads in his bag so Roger removed his seat and it jump started second turn.

And we were off, a little more rain that prompted me to put on my shell suit waterproofs
(no photo of that thank goodness) or that’s what they unkindly called them, upon which it
immediately brightened up.

We all got home safely if not a little weary. If I didn’t mention anyone I am sorry, we had a
good time, sincere apologies to Dave F, I was only joking and hope the boy’s feeling better now.

See you all soon – BMF next weekend…

Then Sweden for me that should be an epic report……

After that it’s the frozen North to see some of you soon hopefully, will post date and
locations on the boards…….
